“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
~ The Fellowship of the Ring, J.R.R. Tolkien ~

Hi everybody!

Glad you landed on our blog. You have perhaps already heard about it one way or another, but the next year we’re off to travel around the world! We hope to write a blog every fortnight with stories and pictures of our preparations and travels far away… You can sign up for updates on the right section of each page. Or you can simply send us an email telling us that you would like to be kept informed 🙂

Many plans are yet to be made and in between there will surely be some unplanned plan changes. However, we do have a global itinerary, which is as follows:

On Friday, August 26 we fly from the Netherlands to Canada, where we plan to housesit. We then travel overland to Vancouver, California and the Grand Canyon, from where we’ll fly to one of the Caribbean islands. After about 10 days we depart for Equador, South America. Travelling by land, our next destination will be Sao Paulo, where, on New Years Eve, we take the plane to New Zealand. In New Zealand we plan to work for up to three months, to provide for board and lodging. Round about March, we travel by plane to Australia, where we will be travelling from east to west. Next we would like to visit South East Asia via Indonesia, travelling by boat. Here we will travel by train from China, through Mongolia to Russia. Departing from Moscow, we will be returning to the Netherlands. These, in a nutshell, are our plans for the following year.

Momentarily, we are busy arranging housesits for Canada, booking airline tickets and to establish a schedule for the New Year.

Greetings and until next time!

    over de eeuwige kringloop van de sterren;

    Lieve An en Steef,

    Hartelijke groet,

    Dick Bal
